AI Depixelate

A free AI tool for clearer images

AI Depixelate turns blocky, low-resolution, and heavily compressed photos into cleaner images. Upload once, compare the result side by side, and download a polished PNG — no account, no watermark, no cost.

Why we built it

Most photos worth keeping were saved at the wrong size, resized one time too many, or pushed through a chat app that compressed them into mush. Existing fixes either bury the feature behind a subscription, stamp a watermark across the result, or demand an account before showing you anything. We wanted the opposite: open the page, drop in an image, see whether it actually helped, and leave with the file.

How it works

The tool uses AI super-resolution, the family of models described in research such as ESRGAN and Real-ESRGAN. These models are trained on how real-world degradations — blur, resizing, noise, and JPEG compression — relate to clean images, so they can estimate smoother edges and more natural texture from a damaged one. You upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 10 MB, the image is processed, and you get a PNG back.

What it cannot do

The output is an enhancement, not a recovery. Fine detail in the result is a plausible reconstruction, not information retrieved from the original file. That means it cannot un-blur censored content, read text that was deliberately obscured, or reveal a face that was pixelated to hide it. Results should never be used to identify a person or as forensic evidence. When an image has too little information left, the honest answer is that no model can put it back.

How your images are handled

Uploads are processed privately and are scheduled for automatic deletion after 24 hours. You do not need an account to use the tool, so there is no profile or upload history tied to your images.
